Forest School, Bushcraft, and Outdoor Adventures Tailored for Schools

At Fern Outdoor Adventures, we specialise in working with schools to deliver engaging and inclusive Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) experiences. Our sessions are designed to support the National Curriculum, promote health and wellbeing, and inspire pupils through hands-on learning in nature.

We offer a fully mobile service and can deliver activities safely on your school grounds, or at our privately owned woodland just outside Bishop Auckland.

Outdoor Activities for Schools

At Fern Outdoor Adventures, we offer a range of courses tailored to different goals and experience levels.

Whether you want to gain confidence on the hills, improve safety on the trails, or prepare for a big challenge, our courses are designed to help you succeed.

Forest School & Bushcraft

Children learn practical outdoor skills, teamwork, and resilience through Forest School and bushcraft sessions. From fire-lighting and shelter building to nature exploration, these sessions spark curiosity and build confidence.

Archery & Geo-Caching

Archery develops focus, patience, and coordination, while geo-caching encourages problem-solving, map reading, and adventure. Both offer fun and engaging ways to learn outside the classroom.

Navigation & Outdoor Awards

Our navigation training helps pupils master map reading and compass skills. We can also deliver Outdoor Discovery Awards, providing structured recognition of their achievements.

Team Building & Guided Walks

Through outdoor challenges and guided walks, pupils build communication, cooperation, and resilience while exploring the natural world.

Bespoke Packages for Schools

We tailor our programmes to the needs of each school and each group of learners. Whether you want outdoor sessions during the school day, after-school clubs, or one-off workshops, we can create a package that works for you. Our inclusive approach ensures that every pupil can take part, learn, and succeed in the outdoor environment.

CPD & Teacher Support

In addition to pupil-focused sessions, we also provide consultancy and CPD training for teachers and support staff.
